(More customer reviews)I love tagine cooking. I purchased a traditonal clay one years ago. You had to soak it overnight in cold water before use. I hadn't used in in over a year and I knew I was taking a chance when I didn't bother to soak it. I even smiled as I watched the crack form and spread. At last I had an excuse to purchase this one!
Dishwasher safe! No soaking, although you do need to boil milk in it before the first use. This size feeds six. I lucked out and found a black one at Crate and Barrel Outlet.
Although I was annoyed with the upkeep of a tradtional tagine, I didn't want to switch to stainless steel or cast iron. This new glazed clay is a wonderful innovation.
This one cooks evenly. Cleans up easily and is nice enough to serve from at the table. If you are serious about the cuisine, this is the one to purchase. I'm concerned about the cast iron and stainless steel ones by other companies. Those aren't traditional materials and they conduct heat much more effeciently. The food may cook too quickly. This is as close to the original as you can get without the prep and cleanup hassles that come with it.
